Ciasto niedzielne oczywiście żółte. Trochę jak tarte Tatin, tylko do góry nogami, czyli najpierw kruche ciasto, a potem owoce (brzoskwinie) w karmelu. Na to wylałam tą masę – myślałam, że się zrobi krem, a zrobił się najprawdziwszy w świecie budyń!

Sunday cake – yellow of course. A bit like tarte Tatin, only upside down: shortcrust covered with caramelised fruit (peaches) and not the other way round. All that covered with this custard.

A jutro zamawiam włóczkę na nową robótkę. Kolor: obowiązkowo żółty.

Tomorrow I’m buying yarn for a new project. Yellow of course.

We wtorek po południu nastąpiła przerwa między jednym monsunowym opadem a drugim i udało mi się zrobić parę zdjęć szala. Mama pozowała, Zosia przeszkadzała ile się tylko dało, i było tak wilgotno, że prawie nie było czym oddychać.

On Tuesday afternoon, in between the monsoon rainfalls, I managed to take a few photos of the shawl. My Mom kindly modelled, Zosia kept interfering as best she could, and it was so humid there was hardly any air to breathe.

Po Nocy w Granadzie (odrobinę za małej) i Miętowym szalu (odrobinę za długim) ten szal ma wreszcie idealną długość. Można się nim spokojnie owinąć albo nosić luźno.

After Night in Granada (a tad too small) and the Mint Shawl (a tad too long), this shawl is of a perfect length. Long enough to be wrapped on the shoulders but not too long to be worn loose.

Motyw kłosów nie został rozpoznany przez nikogo z pytanych przeze mnie co to jest (“Tulipany?”). Kiedy tak zwisa, to nawet przypomina trochę pióra. Co tam. Jest piękny.

The barley heads pattern was not the first guess of those I asked what they thought it was (“Tulips?”). Worn like this it even looks a bit like feathers. Never mind. It’s beautiful.





Miałam świetną zabawę z koralikami. Muszę jeszcze to gdzieś wykorzystać, może wreszcie przydadzą się te śliczne zielone koraliki, które przywiozłam w zeszłym roku z Czech...

Knitting with beads was so much fun! I’ll have to make some more beaded things, perhaps with those lovely green beads I brought from Czech Republic last year...





Nie chcę się znowu rozpływać nad włóczką, więc może parę słów o samym modelu. Gdyby mnie kto pytał, to moim zdaniem jest idealny dla początkujących - motyw zbożowy nieskomplikowany, a główna część szala to w kółko te same proste ściegi. Robi się sam na automatycznym pilocie.

I don’t want to drool over the yarn again, so maybe a word about the pattern. If anyone asked me, I’d say it’s perfect for lace beginners. The barley motive is not complicated and the body of the shawl is just a few stitches repeated all the way through. You can knit it on auto-pilot.

Kolor szala też jest śliczny – łagodny żółty, co więcej mam powiedzieć?

The colour of the shawl is also lovely – a mellow yellow, do I need to say more?

Jedyna rzecz, z której jestem niezadowolona, to połączenie. Chyba już wiem, gdzie zrobiłam błąd, ale teraz już niestety za późno na poprawki.

One thing I’m not really satisfied with is the join. I think I know where I made the mistake but unfortunately it’s too late to repair it now.

Bardzo się cieszę, że szal się tak ładnie udał. Przez cały czas podśpiewywałam sobie Yellow Coldplay i chyba w jakiś sposób szal przejął coś z pozytywnej energii tej piosenki.

I’m glad the shawl came out so well. I kept chanting the Yellow song by Coldplay all the time I was knitting it and I think it’s somehow retained all the positive energy this song has.

Weather report

Tata od kilku dni puszcza Weather Report, chyba wiem czemu. Nie wiem tylko, gdzie znikło lato.

My Dad’s been playing his Weather Report CD for a few days now, I think I know why. What I don’t know is where all this summer actually went.

Kiedy to piszę, za oknem leje deszcz. Mamy też inne oznaki jesieni.

As I’m writing, the rain is just pouring down. There are other signs of autumn as well.






Jeśli chodzi o zbiory, to może nie nadarzyć się żadna okazja na sesję zdjęciową (a miałam takie plany), bo szal wręczam jutro, a na razie słońce prawie nie świeci. Może obdarowana zgodzi się zapozować...

As for how it will affect the crops, there may be no opportunity for a shooting session (and I had such great plans) as I need to give the shawl away tomorrow and there has been hardly any sunlight at all. Perhaps the recipient will be kind enough to model...
