Sometimes it’s a long and winding way from the idea to the finished object. It was so with this cardigan – the idea was born out of a sudden need for warmth and the initial phase of buying yarn and choosing the pattern was rather short; the problems started right after that. It took me a lifetime to knit the ribbing, then as you know I had to rip and reknit it, shortly: this wasn’t the easiest sweater to make. But it was worth it.

It’s obvious right away that I’ve made some changes. The first one was to make it all in grey, leaving out the sock yarn. I feared it might be impossible to find a matching yarn, but I also think it is more versatile this way.

Druga zmiana to oczywiście guziki.
The second change is with the buttons. After I tried it on, it turned out that the cardigan is a bit too tight; blocking helped to make it a bit bigger, but still not big enough for buttoning it all the way down, so I only sewed the buttons on the yoke. Aren’t they perfect?

This was my first cardigan with a yoke like that and I have to say it is a convenient way to deal with the construction issues, but I think I still prefer it the other way, with the sleeves sewn in. But the basic idea of the sweater turned out to be very simple, I might try to knit another one with the yoke in colourwork one day...

A włóczki zużyłam niewiele ponad 250 gramów!
My final comment is that the cardigan is really comfortable and nice to wear and I like it a lot. If you’re looking for an easy, classic (but let’s be honest, quite time-consuming) cardigan, this might be the one. And the yarn was lovely as usual – it only took about 250 gram to make the sweater!
