Wygląda na to, że tej wiosny moje sztrikowanie składa się z samych koronek. (A może w ogóle wiosna równa się koronki? Nie wiem.) Tym razem sztrikowanie luksusowe.

It seems this spring is all about lace as far as my knitting goes. (Or perhaps spring is all about lace anyway? I don’t know.) This time it’s definitely luxury knitting.

Oto mój aktualny projekt (w tle pan Borschtch) – Estonian Lace Scarf autorstwa Nancy Bush. Jakiś czas temu można było ściągnąć z Knitting Daily, a włóczka merino, którą przywiozłam z Brukseli, idealnie będzie się nadawać na lekki szal.

Here is my current project (and Mr. Borschtch in the background) – Estonian Lace Scarf by Nancy Bush. It was a free pattern on Knitting Daily some time ago and I’ve decided the merino yarn I brought from Brussels will be perfect for a light shawl.

Okropnie ciężko uchwycić kolor. W rzeczywistości nie jest taki niebieski (niebieski to zdecydowanie nie mój kolor, w życiu bym sobie nie zrobiła niebieskiego szala). Jest miętowy. Miętowy Szal.

It’s soooo hard to get the colour right! In reality it’s not so blue (blue is definitely not my colour, I’d never make myself a blue shawl). It’s mint. A Mint Shawl.

Zaczęłam robić na trójkach, ale było zbyt gęste. Zmieniłam na piątki – zbyt luźne. Wycieczka dosklepu zaowocowała moim ogromnym zdumieniem i jak widać na zdjęciach – drutami bambusowymi! Nigdy wcześniej nie widziałam takich w Polskim sklepie i nie widzę teraz możliwości powrotu do aluminiowych. Są leciutkie jak piórko i sztrikuje się bosko.

I started knitting it with needles N° 3 but that was too tight. Switched to N° 5 – too lose. I made a trip to the shop and to my utter surprise came back with what you can see in the photos – bamboo needles! I’ve never seen them in a Polish shop before and now I don’t think I can ever get back to aluminium ones. They’re as light as a feather and knitting feels like heaven.

O, a to są oczka nabrane z szydełkowanego łańcuszka. Właściwie nic specjalnego, ale trochę się boję, co będzie przy jego usuwaniu.

Oh, and here’s the crochet cast on. Nothing special really, I’m only afraid what will happen while removing it.



Teraz będę tylko potrzebowała białej bawełnianej sukienki, żebym miała do czego nosić szal, ale to sama przyjemność.

I’ll just need a white cotton dress to match the shawl now but that’s pure pleasure.

Wieczór w Granadzie powędrował wczoraj do prawowitej właścicielki. Podobał jej się, a mnie się podobało jak w nim wygląda, czyli pełny sukces. W międzyczasie zaczęłam coś nowego, ale na razie zrobiłam tylko jakieś cztery rzędy. To będzie zdecydowanie robótka relaksacyjna.


Night in Granada went to its proper owner yesterday. I was happy to see that she really liked it and that it looked well on her. Meanwhile, I’ve cast on for another project but only made four or so rows so far. This will definitely be therapy knitting.

Jestem zachwycona tym wzorem. Jest taki organiczny, jakby sam wyrósł, a nie został zrobiony. Nawet chciałam zrobić taką chustę dla siebie, ale ktoś sprzątnął ze sklepu całą fioletową bawełnę. Muszę poczekać na dostawę.

I absolutely love this pattern. It looks so organic, as if it’s grown and not made. I even had plans to make another shawl for myself but someone bought all the violet cotton from the shop. I’ll have to wait till they get some more.

Najpierw problemy: zużyłam cztery całe motki i kawałeczek piątego. W jakiś dziwny sposób wykończenie zeżarło więcej włóczki niż podstawowy wzór; jakieś cztery rzędy od brzegu skończyła mi się włóczka i musiałam spruć cały raport. Może chusta mogłaby być o ten jeden raport większa?

Problems first: I used 4 whole skeins and a tiny little bit of the fifth one. Somehow the edge took more yarn to make than the basic pattern; I ran out of yarn some four rows from the end and had to frog an entire pattern repeat. Maybe it could be this one repeat larger?

Nie jestem też usatysfakcjonowana efektami napinania. Zostawiłam chustę rozpiętą na całą noc i pół następnego dnia, ale wciąż mam wrażenie, że nie jest dość gładka. Jak myślicie, wygładzi się w trakcie noszenia?

I’m also unsure about this whole blocking thing. I left it to block for the entire night and half the next day but I’ve still got this feeling it’s not smooth enough. Will it smooth out while being worn – what do you think?

Strasznie mi się podoba wzór. Tylko spójrzcie.

I love the pattern. Just look at it.

Strasznie mi się podobają podwójne narzuty na środku tyłu. Przed napięciem nie wyglądały zbyt dobrze i bałam się, że popsują cały efekt. Okazało się, że wręcz przeciwnie.

I love the double yarnovers at the centre of the back. They didn’t look very nice before blocking and I was a little afraid they would spoil the whole look. It turned out quite the contrary.

Strasznie mi się podobają cekiny, które przyszyłam na brzegu. Początkowo chciałam przyszyć po cekinie na każdym liściu, ale to było już za dużo. Tak jest idealnie.

I love the sequins I sewed on at the edge. My first thought was to put a sequin on each leaf but it was too much. This way it’s just perfect.

Przepraszam, że wrzuciłam tyle zdjęć, ale ciężko mi było wybrać mniej – moja siostra tak pięknie wygląda w tej chuście.

I’m sorry I put so many photos here but I had a hard time choosing less – my sister just looks so lovely in this shawl, don’t you think?
